4. View Applicants

Follow these steps to view your applicants and select the right volunteer!

  1. When the applications start rolling in, you can view the applications on your Organisation Dashboard > Projects > Active.

  2. [Important] ⭐ Please contact the volunteer for a phone interview or a screening process before sending an offer. There are three main questions / areas we recommend to touch upon (refer to the table below).

  3. Once you've found the right volunteer, click "Send Offer" to send them our standard volunteer agreement.

  4. After the offer has been sent, the volunteer will accept or decline your offer.

  5. Once they have accepted your offer, you can liaise with them directly and kickstart with the project!

Questions / Areas to touch upon:

Why is it important:

Learn more about their knowledge on your organisation and the causes that you support

Getting a better understanding on the applicant's passion and their motivation to volunteer for you

Ask questions about whether their skills are up to your level of expectations

To gauge the volunteer's confidence in completing the project. If it's projects like translation, you can provide a small paragraph or task for the applicant to test their skills

(If they're answers for the questions above are good and you're thinking of sending them an offer) Communicate concisely on the following points:

  1. The expectations on what they are going to work on, the task(s) details, and your own expectations for them

  2. How flexible their working schedule is

  3. What is the best way to communicate with your team etc

This is the most important area to touch upon in order to minimise the volunteer's dropout rate.

There are three main reasons on why volunteers dropout:

  • Their expectations are inaccurate and the project pivoted to something that they didn't sign up for

  • They are not passionate about your causes

  • They haven't built a relationship with you and your team The volunteer's sense of responsibility and eagerness to complete the project increases if you're closer with them.
