Tips to finding high-quality volunteers
1) Describe the project in one sentence
Be as concise and provide as much information as you could, so the volunteers know what is expected from them as a first impression. For example, specify the coding language if you're recruiting a Web Developer, or describe the video content and duration if you're looking for a Video Editor.
DOs
DON'Ts
Video Editor: Help us create and edit a 3-5 minutes video about gender equality
Video Editor: Help us make a video
Content Creator: Help us create 10 Instagram posts to promote our new program on providing further education for underprivileged children
Content Creator: Help us write some cool posts
Web Developer: Help us add a donation function on our WordPress website with Javascript
Web Developer: Help us code some functions on our website
2) Specific Tasks
Be specific with the tasks you're asking the volunteers to do, and feel free to add your preference/requirements. You can add up to 5 tasks.
Here's an example for a Legal Consultant:
Join an 1-hour briefing call with our team to understand our nonprofit structure
Advise us on a suitable legal structure we should adopt based on our objectives
We are looking for a volunteer who is a practicing lawyer with at least 3 years of experience within the industry
3) Time Commitment
Please note the maximum time commitment will be an estimation of 40 hours in total.
You have the option to put the time commitment in total, per week or per month.
If you estimate that the volunteer project will take 30 hours per month, we recommend you to breakdown the time commitment and list the project as 8 - 10 hours per week. This may be a more realistic picture of the time commitment and may seem less intimidating for the volunteers.
